Additionally, the Barbarian/Rogue is an ideal pathfinder for any party. This multiclass has several responsibilities during combat, but mostly they just need to be able to deal high melee DPS and take considerable amounts of damage themselves. More importantly, add your Strength modifier twice to damage and attack rolls when making unarmed attacks, using improvised weapons, or throwing things. Tavern Brawler: Get +1 extra Constitution.

If you can find the Gauntlets of Hill Giant Strength (which increase Strength to 23) then put these and other Ability bonuses into Dexterity or Constitution instead. Ability Improvements: Put both points in Strength to reach 20, and push its overall modifier bonus to +5.This is fundamental for the Barbarian/Rogue's mobility across large battlefields. The Athlete feat also reduces the movement it takes to stand up from prone position and increases jump distance by 50%. Athlete: Get this first to increase Strength to 18, and thus its modifier bonus to +4 overall. But, for the Barbarian/Rogue multiclass specifically, this level distribution is ideal. Many multiclass builds require forgoing one of those in order to get class-specific bonuses. This particular build will take your character up to level 8 Barbarian and level 4 Rogue, so you can still choose 3 Feats. Inspiration can be gained with this background by using "street smarts," and also by looking after the poor and downtrodden souls of Faerûn in general. Choosing this background will give you proficiency with Sleight of Hand and Stealth, which are the two most important skills taken from the typical Rogue build. The best Barbarian/Rogue build needs to multiclass pretty early to make the most of both skillsets. Outlander also gives the character Inspiration for surviving/experiencing unusual things in the wilderness, from interacting with dangerous creatures to unraveling natural mysteries. Athletics is especially useful for resisting being shoved around by enemy NPCs.

The most classic background for Barbarians, Outlander provides proficiency in Athletics and Survival. But Dexterity-based skills are certainly included in that framework: Sleight of Hand is particularly essential for breaking locks and traps.

Instead, this multiclass relies entirely on physical prowess in order to accomplish tasks. You may want to pay close attention to the background's description in order to understand how these characters become inspired, but some can be pretty self-explanatory.īarbarian/Rogues do not have room for refined abilities or skills. Two things to bear in mind when choosing a background are the skills it provides proficiency for and the ways in which you'll gain Inspiration.
